Sarajevo, Bosnia. July 14, 2103. Nearly a hundred emerging photojournalists today descended on Sarajevo University’s Academy of Fine Arts building to begin the 2013 Foundry Photojournalism Workshop, which kicked off with one of the largest BYO parties in Foundry history. Countries represented include Pakistan, Lebanon, France, Germany, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Canada, and the United States, to name a few.
The party was interrupted for more serious matters including a keynote address from Instructor Ben Lowy, introductions of other instructors, assistants, staff, and explanations of the workshop schedule.
As your Foundry blogger, I can tell you this year’s format will be a little different than in the past. Instead of textual explanations such as this, the blog will be principally photos of student and workshop activity, which will be augmented by captions on the photos. We will do a minimum of one image per day, and will hope to produce more. The objective will be to convey the energy, drama and creativity that students are giving to their work.
So follow us regularly. We’ll turn on the comments pages to let you participate from afar. Fasten your seat belts, we’re of for a fun ride!
