JUST KIDDING.

I'd like to sell the backpack they gave me, though. It's really nice, just too big for how I'm shooting these days. Let me know if you're interested and still in town.

Hi all,

I'm an Istanbul resident (American) who's participating in the workshop. I live in Beyoglu, on the European side (a very easy ferry ride from Kadikoy) and am having a party at my house Saturday night. Feel free to stop by. It's not an official, or even exclusively, a Foundry event but you might meet some interesting folks and some other participants.

Email me at cquirk at quirkglobalstrategies dot com and I will send the details.

- Even in summer, expect to wear long pants (or long skirts for women) and shirts with at least short sleeves. This is because mosques forbid shorts and short skirts and bare shoulders and you will likely be in places of religious interest during your time in Istanbul. Also, most Turkish men do not wear shorts, so you will stick out much more as a tourist if you are wearing shorts. Women should bring a scarf and keep handy if needed.

- Istanbul weather is a little complex. It will be warm in June but there are chances of windy evenings. Bring something warm just incase. The temperature in June is usually between 16C-32C or 60F-80F.

Merhaba,

I am a Canadian living in Kadikoy-Moda area for the last 3 months teaching English and working lots at that don't know many people around here as I only really have weekends free to explore and shoot.
If anyone lives here as I have seen a few do or arrive in the area early want to get together and talk shop respond to this thread and we can get a support net of photographers going.

Hi guys,

I am a photographer from New Delhi,

will be reaching Istanbul on the 17th Morning, and would like to start shooting before the workshop begins...

I am planning on using a fixer, just to gain access and visit the location where I want to photograph,

It has been suggested that I wont require a full day's service from the fixer - thereby to save some money ... maybe another student (s) can share the service (half day ???)

Guessing all this needs to be negotiated with a fixer... but lets see if any one is interested first

U can reach me directly on karan.vaid@gmail.com

Fixers will be available via the center we have the workshop at. A fixer for the day in Istanbul is about 40-80$ depending on where/how/who you get them thru.
Definitely recommend LS to get a better idea of local fixers/photographers willing to help.
