  1. - There are 3 national mobile operators in Turkey:

    1) Turkcell
    2) Vodafone (Telsim)
    3) AveA

Best to buy your sim card at the airport on arrival. There is a Vodafone kiosk at the arrival terminal. You need an unlocked phone and ID (a copy of your passport just incase).

    - Plugs used in Turkey, 2-pronged plug, type C, the same they use in France, Bangladesh etc...Bring adapters if you have US-type plugs on your computers, battery chargers, etc..

  2. - re : currency exchange
Change a small amount at the airport as there is commission charged.
Banks outside do it for free minus any charges or ATM.

    - We are in Kadikoy on the Asian side and NOT Karakoy which is on the European side.

  3. - Even in summer, expect to wear long pants (or long skirts for women) and shirts with at least short sleeves. This is because mosques forbid shorts and short skirts and bare shoulders and you will likely be in places of religious interest during your time in Istanbul. Also, most Turkish men do not wear shorts, so you will stick out much more as a tourist if you are wearing shorts. Women should bring a scarf and keep handy if needed.

    - Istanbul weather is a little complex. It will be warm in June but there are chances of windy evenings. Bring something warm just incase. The temperature in June is usually between 16C-32C or 60F-80F.
