Andrea Bruce
Andrea Bruce was born in Indiana in 1973. After graduating with a journalism degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Bruce joined the staff of the Washington Post, where she began to chronicle the world's most troubled areas. Her pictures from the Iraq War have been published widely and have garnered international acclaim.
She has won dozens of awards for her work, including top honors form the National Picture of the Year competition, the White House News Photographers Association (where she has been named Photographer of the Year three times), and the prestigious John Faber award from the Overseas Press Club in New York. Bruce's work has been chronicled by NPR and and the Newshour with Jim Lehrer, and she frequently lectures at top universities and photography organizations. She recently returned from her sixth trip to Iraq.
