Applying is easy! Please fill out the form at the bottom of this page and include a link to your website or send us a link to download your portfolio. We will let you know by July 11, 2019 if you’ve been chosen to receive a scholarship.
A number of full scholarships are available as well as travel stipends to Kigali.
This year’s workshop will be held in Kigali, Rwanda from August 11 to August 17, 2019 on the campus of the African Leadership University (ALU), 2nd Floor Kigali Heights, KG 7 Ave.
The deadline to apply for a scholarship is July 1st, 2019.
Applicants for our scholarships must be citizens of and live in an African country. Those who want to join Foundry 2019 from outside Africa are welcome to register and pay the tuition fee in full. There are no age or experience restrictions, and we offer classes for all levels of photography.

The VII Academy Scholarships to the Foundry Photojournalism Workshop include tuition only; you are still responsible for transportation, lodging, meals, and other daily expenses. However, please note we are offering travel stipends to those in need.
To be eligible for a scholarship, you must be a citizen and resident of an African country (others may consider applying for a Bob and Diane Fund Scholarship). We welcome those with a range of photographic experience but prioritize those who show a deep commitment to and passion for photography and visual journalism.
If you do not receive a scholarship, you may still be able to apply for reduced tuition as a local.
A note on the application: We have included spaces for many social media links, so please include only those that you currently use.
